What is the Futaba International Center?
As of June 2024, foreign residents make up 3.8% of Kobe’s total population. In its efforts to promote multicultural coexistence, Kobe City provides various forms of support for foreign residents.
Established in 2019, the Futaba International Center offers free spaces for cultural exchange and Japanese language learning, along with a kids’ area, creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

A Variety of Programs Tailored for Foreign Residents
Kobe City hosts “Foreign Resident Life Guidance” sessions at neighborhood associations and other venues to provide essential daily life information in simple Japanese with interpreter support. Additionally, consultation desks offer multilingual support for administrative procedures and everyday concerns, as well as assistance with learning Japanese.
The city also organizes events such as guided tours of Shin-Nagata and cultural exchange activities, open to people of all nationalities and age groups.
